WATER AS A CODE OF LIFE

                               

            Water, the only hope for man. First of all what do we understand by the word water ? Water is nothing order than the day to day liquid that we all make use of. So, my point is, this liquid that we are all familiar with, have you ever for ones ponder about this miraculous stuff; yeah, because you have to be solely aware that this  liquid play a crucial role in all your endeavour. This liquid stuff is so important to some tribe to the extent that they make it their god. Let's also view it in the chemistry perspective; water is a two element formed compound, but thats not all. Water is also regarded as one of the universal solvent in chemistry view, which means without, water some compounds or generally substance would not be able to be analyse.
        
      Let's make this interesting, i would like to share some interesting fact about this miraculous liquid with you.
     

•              Do you know or have you heard that water is the only substance that exist in three state on earth,(Solid at the pole, liquid in the ocean, and gaseous in air)
•             Saskatchewan’s name comes from the Plains Cree word kisiskatchewan, which means "the river that flows swiftly."
•           Water expands by 9 percent when it freezes.
•           Your body has already lost more than one percent of its total water, by the time you are feeling thirsty.
•            Due to its important March 22 was declared by the United Nations,as the World Water Day.

    Now, how important is water to life;

•               You can only live for  about one week without water, where as, you can live for up to one month without food.
•               66 percent of the human body is water.
•               75 percent of the human brain is water.
•               A living tree is 75 percent water.

    Then, how much does water cost ?

              In the United States, for example, the average person pays 25 cents for their water each day.

               It costs over $3.5 billion to operate the American water systems each year.
      

               It become worst in many developing country, because the only way to get safe drinking water is through private vendors, who charge up to ten times more than piped water would cost. 

In many African cities, up to 80 percent of the population gets their water this way. In Namibia, up to 20 percent
 of the family income is spent on water.

            More to learn, how much water do I use?

•              Worldwide, 69 percent of withdrawn water is for agriculture, 23 percent is for industrial purposes and 8 percent is for domestic purposes.
•              The average Canadian uses about 335 litres of water each day for domestic purposes (compared with the average American who uses 380 litres, the average Italian, who uses 250 litres, and the average Swede, who uses 200 litres of water each day).

             

      Is it possible for me, to use 335 litres of water in one day? then see the answer;

•                  A five minute shower uses 100 litres of water, but a five minute shower with a reduced-flow showerhead uses less than half of this.
•                  One dishwasher cycle uses about 40 litres of water,and hand washing the dishes uses about35 litres of water.
•                  Leaving the tap running while you wash your hands uses about 8 litres of water.
•                  Leaving the tap running while you brush your teeth uses about 10 litres of water.
•                  One load of laundry uses about 225 litres of water. A front loading washing machine uses 40 t0 60 percent less water than a top loading washing machine.
•                  One flush of the toilet uses 15 to 19 litres of water, but a low-flush toilet uses only 6 litres of water per flush.

                                                          




These is now where the problem is , What kinds of health concerns are associated with water?

•                         Diarrheal diseases have killed more children in the past ten years than all those killed by armed conflict since world war two.
•                         Diarrheal diseases cause some 6000 deaths per day, most of which are children under age of five.
•                          60 percent of infant mortality is linked to infectious and parasitic diseases, most of which arewater-related.
•                          80 percent of diseases in developing countries are water-related.
•                          Up to 90 percent of all wastewater in developing countries is discharged directly into rivers and streams, without treatment.
•                          In China, India and Indonesia, twice as many people die from diarrheal diseases than fromHIV/AIDS.
•                           Unsafe drinking water causes an estimated 90 deaths and 90,000 illnesses in Canada each year

    Getting rid of the bad stuff:.

      

       One milligram of free chlorine per litre of water can kill the E. coli bacteria in less than one minutes, but takes approximately 16 minutes to kill the Hepatitis A virus, 45 minutes to kill the Giardia parasite, and about 9600 minutes (6 to 7 days) to kill the Cryptosporidium parasite.

      So, get your cup and have at least a little sip of water, because life is too short to be anything.
